Sywell Aerodrome is located on the edge of Sywell village in Northamptonshire, 4 miles from the centre of Wellingborough and 10 miles from the centre of Northampton. Sywell is no more than an hour away from Coventry, Milton Keynes, Bedford and Cambridge. The postcode for satnav users is NN6 0BN, but please follow airshow signs as you approach the Aerodrome.

GATES OPEN 10:00 - FLYING DISPLAY STARTS 13:45

Arriving by Road

Beat the queues - arrive early! If you try and arrive just in time for the flying display you can pretty much guarantee you'll miss part of the display. As with any airshow, arrive early and leave late and you will not have to suffer the worst of any traffic. We have improved access to the main and overflow car parks since the 2010 show, and the car park exits have been both widened and increased in number.

Disabled Parking: we have very limited space available for disabled parking (blue badge holders), so please please please - if you do not have genuine mobility problems, do not use up a space that somebody else could make use of. This year we will have local police making spot checks on blue badges - it's a criminal offence to misuse one, and if convicted you could have the badge taken away and be fined up to £1,000.

No parking zone: double yellow lines indicate the no parking zone on Wellingborough Road (along the eastern edge of the aerodrome); this year we will have local parking enforcement patrolling this area giving away cheerful-looking yellow tickets. We guarantee that these will cost you much more than paying to get into the airshow! If you try to park here to watch the airshow for free, not only are you depriving the Air Ambulance of much-needed funds, but you are also obstructing the highway and one of our emergency access routes.

From the South or South West (M1/A43), join the A45 at Northampton and head east towards Wellingborough. It is around 12 miles from the M1 to the roundabout at Wellingborough - turn left here onto the A509. Go straight over the next two roundabouts, then turn left into Sywell Road. Go straight over the next roundabout into the 'Mad Mile' - at the T junction at the end (actually 0.7 miles from the roundabout), turn left. Now simply follow the road; the Aerodrome is on your right less than 2 miles from here, with car parking for the airshow on your left.

From the North or West (M45/A45/M1/M6), join the A14 at the M6/M1/A14 junction and head east towards Kettering. Just outside Kettering, join the A43 signposted for Northampton and Broughton (this is the second A43 junction - ignore the first). Just under 7 miles further on there is a roundabout, turn left here towards Sywell. At the T junction in the village, turn left. Around one third of a mile further on the Aerodrome is on your left and the airshow car park is on your right.

From the South or South East (A6/A1), head for Bedford and join the A6 towards Rushden. When it reaches the A45, turn left to join the A45 towards Wellingborough. At the second roundabout, turn right onto the A509.

From the North or North East (A1/A605/A14), join the A14 towards Kettering. Just past Kettering, join the A43 signposted for Northampton and Broughton. Just under 7 miles further on there is a roundabout, turn left here towards Sywell. At the T junction in the village, turn left. Around one third of a mile further on the Aerodrome is on your left and the airshow car park is on your right.

Leaving the Show

Please be patient! With everybody arriving over the course of a few hours, it's simply impossible for everybody to leave at the same time but you can help us to help you. First of all, on departure please follow marshaller's directions. Each of the car park exits is intended to allow traffic to go in one direction only - you may therefore be directed away from where you want to go initially but all of the local roads link up so your journey will only be extended in length by a small amount. Vehicles exiting from the south end of the car park will be turned left - those exiting from the north exits will be turned right, thus leaving the road alongside the airfield clear for pedestrians to cross from the airfield to the car parks. Every car that stops at an exit to try and go in the wrong direction will delay everybody else's departure so please - don't stop - just follow the other traffic.

While we've had a lot of rainfall this year, the car park fields have hardstandings or gravel at the most heavily-trafficked areas, i.e. the entrances/exits and the main routes within the fields. We do not anticipate any serious problems with mud elsewhere on the fields - but if you do get stuck, we will get you out!
