The 2008 Sywell Airshow will be a two day event, the first day being a vintage ragwing fly-in. The second day is the main public day, and subject to weather and serviceability on the day, the flying display on that day will consist of the following acts - many more to come! (Last update: 22nd August)

If you are a pilot wishing to fly in to the ragwing fly-in, or the airshow itself, please make a booking here.

Update 22nd August: the Vulcan has suffered a mechanical failure and we understand that it will not be able to carry out any displays this weekend.

Surprise Acts

The flying display will be a mixture of older and more modern aircraft contrasting the fragility of WW1 biplanes with the war-winning power of the Spitfire, along with an explosive appearance from the dastardly Boche. Post-war aviation will be represented by the graceful Vampire jet. With approximately three hours of varied flying the Sywell Airshow 2008 will offer something for everyone!

F - Flypast; D - Display; S - Static. Due to the work in progress on the new all-weather runway, we don't have enough room for some of the heavier aircraft to operate from Sywell itself and so these aircraft will be displaying only, and not available for static display.

We have a few surprises up our sleeves for the day itself... so don't assume the above list as a complete one!

In addition to the flying display there will be aircraft on static display along with military and vintage vehicles. Trade stands will include car dealerships, model makers, garden furniture, memorabilia, fine art and books. Your ticket also includes entry to the Sywell Aviation Museum, with exhibits on the history of Sywell, Airfield Defence, the Home Front, USAAF & RAF ground crews and much more.

Aeroplanes may be the heart and soul of Sywell but it is not only the history of aviation that the airfield preserves. In a county famed for motor racing and with Silverstone just up the road, it is apt that Sywell is also home to some historical treasures from the world of motor sport. The sight, and certainly the sound, of Patrick Morgan's beautiful collection of classic and contemporary racing cars have become familiar to all at Sywell. Painstakingly restored to their original splendour by Patrick and his team at Dawn Treader Performance Ltd., a visit to Shackleton House to see the collection is not to be missed.

Entertainments for children will include a flight simulator and fairground rides - the Sywell Airshow is the perfect family day out!
